How does the airflow measurement check option work in the Work Environment section of the Cold Work tab, in OHS Online?
Sure thing, let's look at how this works more closely then. Let's say we have an anemometer instrument (a device which measures air flow) we with us. We then check the ANEMOMETER AVAILABLE option:
Now, let's say we don't have an anemometer instrument. In this case, we then check the ANEMOMETER NOT AVAILABLE option:
These rough gauges work in the following way. We must physically use each of these methods to roughly determine the air flow. Once gauged, we check the relevant option in the list:
1. Up to 8km/h - This is determined roughly by using a light flag. If the flag moves in the airflow, then this is the approximate speed of the air.
2. Up to 16km/h - This is determined roughly, again by using a light flag. If the flag becomes fully extended in the airflow, then this is the approximate speed of the air.
3. Up to 24km/h - This is determined roughly by using a sheet of newspaper. If the airflow raises the newspaper off the floor this is the approximate speed of the air.
4. Note - As, an example, let's say the we do not have an anemometer and we do the flag test. The flag moves slightly in the airflow, indicating an approximate airflow of up to 8km/h. Indicate this on the PTW by checking the Up to 8km/h option.
