In OHS Online, when the Permit to Work (PTW) is printed to hard-copy, some of the specific activity tabs printed have coloured borders to them. Why is this?

That's a great question! When the specific activity tabs are printed to hard-copy format some of them do have coloured borders. The purpose of this is to quickly identify aspects of the PTW when it is in its hard-copy format. By seeing a specific colour, a person can immediately know and understand the type of work involved.

The different border colours are based on international standards for PTW colours in a PTW document. These colours are described below:

1. Hot work print - the hard-copy of this work has a red border
2. Equipment isolation print - the hard-copy of this work has a white border (no colour border)
3. Confined space entry work print - the hard-copy of this work has a green border
4. Excavation work print - the hard-copy of this work has a white border (no colour border)
5. Work at heights print - the hard-copy of this work has a purple border
6. Asbestos work - the hard-copy of this work has a pink border (there is no spec for this type of work so pink has been chosen to differentiate it)
7. Cold work print - the hard-copy of this work has a blue border (there is no spec for this type of work so pink has been chosen to differentiate it)
