As an OHS Online user, what happens if a contractor does not register with the Compensation Commissioner?

This is an important question! If you use a contractor who is not registered or who has failed to pay their assessment from the Compensation Commissioner, then the employees of the contractor are considered to be your employees. This means you take responsibility for them and if any one of them is involved in an accident, you will be considered the responsible employer who has to report the accident to the Compensation Commissioner and follow the claim process.

This is why it is very important to check that any contractor you use, is in good standing with the Compensation Commissioner. A good contractor will be able to furnish you with a current, up-to-date Letter of Good Standing (LOGS), indicating that he or she, is both registered with the Compensation Commissioner and current with their assessments.
