The vessel specific precautions section in the Confined tab

Ahh yes, this is where the hot work becomes complex! The vessel specific precautions section must be used when any hot work is to be done on a vessel, tank or piping where there is a likelihood that the vessel, tank or piping contained a substance which could be reactive to the heat of the hot work process and cause either a fire to break out or an explosion to take place.

The vessel specific precautions section becomes visible when one or more of the (tank/vessel) or (piping) check options is checked in the Work Environment section. When it is visible it does the following: 

1/. It allows specific hazards which may be present in the vessel / tank or piping to be identified. 

 2/. It allows specific safety precautions to be identified and confirmed to be in place to allow the work being done to be conducted safely. 

 3/. It allows the user to record the contents which may be present or to record the residual contents. 

 4/. It allows relevant measurement types to be recorded of the contents so that the process of checking and confirming the vessel/tank or piping is safe for work, can be shown.

Once visible, the vessel specific precautions section allows one or more vessels to be added and evaluated. Each vessel component consists of the following main parts, which allow it to be properly checked and confirmed and made safe before the work is conducted on it: 

1/. Vessel details - this allows details about the vessel to be entered, details about the contents of the vessel to be entered and relevant safety precautions to be confirmed. 

2/. Vessel Isolation details - this allows isolation details for the vessel, tank or piping to be entered, tagout labels to be printed and safety precaution checks to be made of the isolation points. 

3/. Measurements - this allows measurements to be recorded concerning the vessel's, tank's or piping's contents, allowing the vessel, tank or piping to be confirmed as safe before the work being done is started.
